Karen Anderson

Karen Anderson, born June Millichamp “Karen” Kruse, was an American fantasy and science-fiction writer, editor, and longtime figure in SF fandom. She married SF author Poul Anderson in 1953 and wrote both solo and in collaboration with him, beginning with the short novel Innocent at Large (first published in Galaxy, July 1958).
Much of her best-known work was co-written with Poul Anderson, including the historical adventure sequence The Last Viking (often with her contribution uncredited) and the fantasy series King of Ys. She also published shorter pieces such as The Piebald Hippogriff (first published May 1962).
Beyond publishing, she was celebrated for her creative contributions to fan culture, conventions, costuming/masquerades, and early filk history.
