Labor realism that names exploitation and argues for solidarity with humor and bite.
1870 – 1911 · Ireland – United Kingdom | 1 book | Popular now: The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists
Robert Noonan born Robert Croker and best known by the pen name Robert Tressell, was an Irish writer. Tressell spent his entire early adult working life in South Africa. It was in Johannesburg that he was drawn into labour organisation and socialist politics. In Johannesburg, he was also involved with some of the leading protagonists of Irish nationalism.
Robert Tressell shows how small cheats and big structures grind workers down and how wit keeps courage alive. The tone is angry and generous at once. Read him today to discuss wages, pride, and union with texture, and to feel how talk in a workshop becomes public truth.
