The book The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is a work of detective fiction by British writer Agatha Christie Agatha Christie and originally published in 1926.

The story takes place in a small and quiet British town, King's Abbot, which does not exist in reality. Several murders have been committed in that city.

Dr. Sheppard, an inhabitant of the town, tells us the story of the novel. A woman, Mrs Ferrars, murders her husband by poison. After that, she begins to receive pressure and extortion until finally she cannot bear the situation and commits suicide.

Despite being married, she was in love with a man, Roger Ackroyd, who is also killed when he receives a letter revealing the name of his lover's extortionist.

Hercules Poirot is a detective recently transferred to King's Abbott and will be in charge of investigating the dark case.

The ending of the book The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is considered one of the best and most surprising in all of Agatha Christie's work.
