In 1880 New York City, Cedric Errol is a young man living with his mother in apparent poverty after the death of his father, Captain Cedric Errol.
One day, his luck changes when they receive a visit from an English lawyer with a message from young Cedric's grandfather. His grandfather is a millionaire and he is upset that his son married an American. Still, Cedric's father's brothers having died, the young man inherits the title of Lord Fauntleroy and the wealth and land associated with the title.
In addition, he proposes that they both move to England and that young Cedric be educated there as an English aristocrat. The grandfather is surprised by the intelligence of his grandson and both establish a very special bond and learn from each other... p>
