Nicomachean Ethics is a work of philosophy written by Aristotle and published in the 4th century BC. It is a foundational work of Western philosophy.

Divided into ten books, Aristotle explores the idea of the highest good for human beings, which he also relates to happiness. For him, happiness is found in the practice of virtue and a life of personal fulfillment.

He states that virtue is something that can be learned and improved through practice and education. He also distinguishes types of virtues, some of which are related to character and achieved through habit, and others of which are related to intelligence.

He also focuses on examining individual virtues, such as courage or justice, and how they contribute to people and their relationships with others.

"Every art and every inquiry, and similarly every action and pursuit, is thought to aim at some good; and for this reason the good has rightly been declared to be that at which all things aim. But a certain difference is found among ends; some are activities, others are products apart from the activities that produce them. "

This edition of the Nicomachean Ethics is based on the English translation made by W. D. Ross and available at Wikisource.
