Captains Courageous

Captains Courageous is an adventure novel by Rudyard Kipling, first published in 1897.

The story follows Harvey Cheyne, a spoiled and wealthy teenager who falls from an ocean liner and is rescued by the crew of a fishing schooner. Unable to return home immediately, he must join the fishermen and work for his place aboard the ship.

Through hard labor, danger, and life at sea, Harvey gradually learns discipline, responsibility, and respect for others. His experiences with the crew transform him from an arrogant boy into a more mature and capable young man.

Combining maritime adventure with a coming-of-age story, the novel explores personal growth, courage, and the value of honest work.
