Epic Poetry Mythology Friendship The quest for immortality Man vs. nature Death and Mourning The nature of power
The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia, considered to be the oldest surviving literary work and the second oldest religious text, after the Egyptian pyramid texts. It was written around c. 2100–1200 BC
The work can be considered a scholarly investigation of how for thousands of years men had already been concerned with the concept of creation and mortality.
The book tells us about the saga of Gilgamesh, king of Uruk, and his fight against the creation of the gods Enkidu, who tries to end the oppression of the people of Uruk by Gilgamesh.
After some initial tests of strength, Gilgamesh and Enkidu become friends, and the epic story recounts their adventures together and Gilgamesh's search for the secret of eternal life
In this version, Stephen Langon recounts and presents the transliteration of the complex and ancient story with many versions for us to enjoy.
