Kidnapped is an adventure novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson and originally published in 1886. It is based on a real historical event: the unsolved murder that occurred in Appin, Scotland, after the Jacobite uprising of 1745.
Young David Balfour has been orphaned. His father has died and David decides to seek out the only family member he has left: his uncle Ebenezer Balfour. He intends to improve his current situation and try to prosper, but the journey will not be easy and will be full of adventures and dangers that will test his strength and courage.
All set in the Scottish Highlands of the late eighteenth century. The novel shows David's growth as a person and his maturation from a young man to a man.
"I will begin the story of my adventures with a certain morning early in the month of June, the year of grace 1751, when I took the key for the last time out of the door of my father’s house."
