Partners in Crime is a collection of interconnected detective stories by Agatha Christie, first published in 1929.
Restless and eager for excitement, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford accept an opportunity to run Blunt’s International Detective Agency. What begins as an entertaining change soon leads them into a series of strange and dangerous investigations.
Their cases involve stolen jewels, mysterious newspaper messages, missing people, murder, and poisoned chocolates. Using clever disguises, quick thinking, and their natural ability to work together, the couple faces criminal plots filled with deception and unexpected twists.
In each adventure, Tommy and Tuppence imitate the methods of famous fictional detectives from the period. This gives the collection a playful combination of mystery, humor, and literary parody, while preserving the suspense and ingenious plotting associated with Agatha Christie’s work.
"Mrs. Thomas Beresford shifted her position on the divan and looked gloomily out of the window of the flat. The prospect was not an extended one, consisting solely of a small block of flats on the other side of the road. Mrs. Beresford sighed and then yawned.
"I wish," she said, "something would happen."
Her husband looked up reprovingly.
"Be careful, Tuppence, this craving for vulgar sensation alarms me."
Tuppence sighed and closed her eyes dreamily."
