Pollyanna is a classic of children's literature written by Eleanor H. Porter in 1913.
Pollyanna Whittier is an 11-year-old orphan who goes to live with her mother's sister, Polly Harrington, in the town of Beldingsville. Despite her hard childhood and the loss of her parents, the young girl is a very happy and optimistic child, always able to put a good face on bad weather.
Her aunt is a rather strict woman, but the arrival of the girl will be a breath of fresh air not only for her, but for the whole neighborhood of Beldingsville, thanks to the optimism that Pollyana transmits. But not all will be positive, and Pollyanna will face trials that threaten her own optimism.
Pollyanna is a light, fresh and cheerful read. Without a doubt, it is a must-read classic. It is a novel about positive attitudes, human kindness and resilience.
"Miss Polly Harrington entered her kitchen a little hurriedly this June morning. Miss Polly did not usually make hurried movements; she specially prided herself on her repose of manner. But to-day she was hurrying—actually hurrying."
