The Interpretation of Dreams is a psychology book written by Sigmund Freud and originally published in 1899.
In this work Freud introduces his theory of the unconscious with respect to dream interpretation, and discusses what would later become the theory of the Oedipus complex.
Freud argues that our unconscious mind processes the events that occur during wakefulness during dreams. He also talks about what dreams mean and the interpretation that can be obtained from the analysis of them.
This work, very innovative and groundbreaking at the time, helped to lay the foundations of modern psychoanalysis. Although today most of Freud's theories have been disproved, it is a really historical reading and to understand the evolution of psychology.
This edition of The Interpretation of Dreams is based on the translation by Abraham Arden Brill.
