The Mirror of the sea is Joseph Conrad's first autobiographical memoir, written in 1906.
This is a very different work in Conrad's bibliography. In a series of profound and lyrical essays, Conrad writes about the relationship between the sea and the lives of those who sail it, based on his own experiences.
Conrad was a sailor before he was a writer, and he uses his memories to reflect on the immensity and mystery of the ocean.
