The Mystery of the Blue Train is a detective novel written by Agatha Christie and first published in 1928.

This story features our famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, as he investigates the murder of Ruth Kettering, an American heiress found dead on the "Blue Train", a luxury train traveling from London to the French Riviera.

In this scene, we learn that Ruth was wearing a valuable ruby called the "Heart of Fire", which is discovered to have been stolen, thus focusing the plot on Poirot's investigation and interviews with possible suspects in the crime.

Through his famous method of observation and deduction, Poirot will lead us through a series of twists and revelations until the mystery of the murder is solved, leaving The Mystery of the Blue Train as a classic example of the mystery genre, noted for its intricate plot, glamorous setting and ingenious solution, all seasoned with the characteristic style and subtle humor of Agatha Christie.

"It was close on midnight when a man crossed the Place de la Concorde. In spite of the handsome fur coat which garbed his meagre form, there was something essentially weak and paltry about him."
