The Secret Adversary is a mystery novel written by Agatha Christie and first published in 1922. It is the author's second novel.
Tommy and Tuppence are two young men who want to have adventures and make a lot of money. One day they come across the case of the disappearance of the American Jane Finn and, in the hope of making some money, they set up a detective agency to solve cases like this.
The girl was carrying some important documents and boarded the Lusitania, which ended up underwater. Who is this mysterious Mr Brown? Will these two inexperienced detectives be able to solve the case?
The novel is the first appearance of this charismatic pair, perhaps overshadowed by other better known Christie characters such as Poirot or Mrs Marple.
"IT was 2 p.m. on the afternoon of May 7, 1915. The Lusitania had been struck by two torpedoes in succession and was sinking rapidly, while the boats were being launched with all possible speed. The women and children were being lined up awaiting their turn."
