The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies is a children's story written by Beatrix Potter and first published in 1909.

Benjamin and his wife Flopsy have a large family of young bunnies - the Flopsy Bunnies - who are often sleepy and mischievous.

One day, the hungry young rabbits accompany their father to Mr McGregor's rubbish heap to look for food. They find and eat some lettuce, which makes them very sleepy.

While they are napping, Mr McGregor finds them and catches them in a sack, intending to make use of their fur.

However, with the help of Thomasina Tittlemouse, a tidy little wood mouse, Flopsy and Benjamin manage to save the rabbits by replacing them in the sack with rotten vegetables. When Mr McGregor presents the sack to his wife, thinking it contains rabbits, she angrily throws it away when she discovers the rotten vegetables.

This story revisits familiar characters from earlier Potter stories and emphasises themes of cleverness, family co-operation and gentle humour.

"It is said that the effect of eating too much lettuce is "soporific."
I have never felt sleepy after eating lettuces; but then I am not a rabbit.
They certainly had a very soporific effect upon the Flopsy Bunnies!"

This book is illustrated with original drawings by Beatrix Potter herself.
