The Tale of Two Bad Mice is a story written by Beatrix Potter and first published in 1904.
The story tells of the adventures of two mice named Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca who enter a doll's house believing it to be a real house.
When they realize that both the food and the objects are fake, they destroy the furniture and other items in frustration. Eventually, feeling guilty for their actions, they decide to leave gifts for the doll who owns the house and promise not to cause any more destruction.
"ONCE upon a time there was a very beautiful doll's-house; it was red brick with white windows, and it had real muslin curtains and a front door and a chimney."
