Winter Dreams is a short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and first published in 1922.

Dexter Green is a young man with great aspirations for wealth and love. He comes from a humble family, but still wants to be someone important and succeed in life.

He falls in love at a very young age with Judy Jones, a whimsical girl who enjoys the adoration of men. She comes from a wealthy family and can afford to go from man to man without taking relationships seriously.

"Some of the caddies were poor as sin and lived in one-room houses with a neurasthenic cow in the front yard, but Dexter Green's father owned the sec- ond best grocery-store in Black Bear—the best one was "The Hub," patron- ized by the wealthy people from Sherry Island—and Dexter caddied only for pocket-money."
