A Voyage to Arcturus is a novel written by David Lindsay and first published in 1920.
The novel narrates Maskull's adventures on the planet Tormance, which revolves around Arcturus, where he has been taken by his two strange companions, Krag and the taciturn Nightspore.
There he will encounter the inhabitants of the planet and their different philosophies and ways of seeing life. And in the background, the encounters with the two gods who rule that world; Surtur, lord of Muspel, the spiritual and true world, and Crystalline, the creator/shaper of the matter of Arcturus, who by corrupting the spiritual force of the light of Muspel, has created this false material and physical world full of pleasures with which he has deceived and subdued its inhabitants.
The territories through which the characters travel represent philosophical systems or states of mind that the protagonist, Maskull, goes through in his search for the meaning of life.
Through a somewhat particular mix of genres, where fantasy, science fiction and philosophy intersect, the novel explores the nature of good and evil and the relationship with one's own existence.

106 years later, still timely
A planet as thought experiment: Lindsay sends a seeker through landscapes that alter his senses and ethics. It’s science fantasy as philosophy lab—challenging, unruly, and strangely cleansing.
When timelines feel engineered by algorithms, Arcturus offers a hard reset: try on values, then discard them. It invites readers to question borrowed beliefs and build a conscience on purpose.
Worldbuilding as ethics test.
Senses become arguments.
Choose beliefs deliberately.
