The Time Machine is a science fiction novel written by Herbert George Wells and first published in 1895.
In the book The Time Machine, an anonymous scientist builds a time machine that allows him to travel to the future, to the year 802,701, and meet the descendants of humanity, offering a dystopian vision of the future of humanity.
In said future, the scientist discovers that humanity has become two races, the childish Eloi and the monstrous Morlocks. His ship has disappeared so he will have to escape and survive in that hostile environment and find the machine to be able to return to his time.
Wells drew on the scientific method and Darwin's theory of evolution, personalized in the character of the time traveler. It offers a somewhat pessimistic future in which the future is dark and technological innovations have not prevented social degeneration.
