Mansfield Park es una novela escrita por Jane Austen y publicada originalmente en 1814. Es la tercera novela que publicó la autora británica.
Fanny Price is a girl born into a rather humble family and is sent to live with her aunt and uncle, who are better off. Her uncle is Sir Thomas Bertram, a baronet married to Fanny's mother's sister, and the couple lives in Mansfield Park mansion with their four children.
She is intelligent, shy, romantic, and serviceable. She arrives at the age of ten and her cousins are all older than her. In addition, her Aunt Norris (her mother's other sister), constantly reminds her of her poor financial situation. The young Fanny only finds peace in books and in the good relationship with her cousin Edmund, who is the only one who does not treat her as an inferior being.
The arrival at the mansion of siblings Mary and Henry Crawford will be the starting point of a series of romantic entanglements in which the story unfolds.
"About thirty years ago Miss Maria Ward, of Huntingdon, with only seven thousand pounds, had the good luck to captivate Sir Thomas Bertram, of Mansfield Park, in the county of Northampton, and to be thereby raised to the rank of a baronet's lady, with all the comforts and consequences of an handsome house and large income."
