Persuasion is a romantic novel written by Jane Austen and originally published in 1817.

Set in England at the dawn of the 19th century, the novel presents the story of Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth.

Anna had a past relationship with Captain Wentworth that she let slip away on the advice of her merjo friend. After almost a decade since the breakup of the engagement, the two are reunited.

Unlike Pride and Prejudice, here the protagonist is already a mature woman who knows what love is, coming from a previous love disappointment. Anne is able, despite the obstacles of her family, to decide her destiny and to be able to choose whom she will love.
