The House on the Cliff is a juvenile detective and mystery book written by Franklin W. Dixon and first published in 1927. It is the second installment in The Hardy Boys series.

In this new adventure, Frank and Joe Hardy investigate an old house perched high on a cliff in Barmet Bay following events in the previous book.

They climb up to the top and hide in the perfect spot lurking around the house. Suddenly, however, they hear a mysterious cry for help from inside the house. What could be happening?

"THREE powerful motorcycles sped along the shore road that leads from the city of Bayport, skirting Barmet Bay, on the Atlantic coast. It was a bright Saturday morning in June, and although the city sweltered in the heat, cool breezes blew in from the bay."
