Electra was the beautiful daughter of the kings of Argos, King Agamemnon of Mycenae and his wife Clytemnestra.
The meaning of her name is "amber or spark", since the spark arises when rubbing the amber, represented very well this princess whose objective in her unfortunate existence was to avenge her father, who was murdered on his return from the War of Troy, at the hands of his wife, along with his lover, Aegisthus.
Electra is forced to marry a farmer and live and resign herself to a life she did not want on the outskirts of the city.
Sophocles gives his dramatic touch to this book full of conflicts caused in different generations, it perfectly represents the touch of classical Greek tragedy typical of the author.
