The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of thirteen detective stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, first published as a book in 1905.
The opening story, The Empty House, brings Sherlock Holmes back to London after his apparent death at Reichenbach Falls. His reunion with Dr. Watson leads immediately to a confrontation with Colonel Sebastian Moran, one of Professor Moriarty's most dangerous associates.
The remaining cases range from coded dancing figures and a missing student to blackmail, political secrets, and murders with deceptively simple explanations. Holmes's methods remain rigorous, but the stories repeatedly test the difference between legal guilt and moral justice.
