Wuthering Heights is a novel written by Emily Brontë and originally published in 1847. It is the only novel written by the writer, due to her death when she was only 30 years old.

The story takes place in Wuthering Heights, a moor with a mansion surrounded by mountains and wild gardens. The mansion is home to siblings Hindley and Catherine Earnshaw. He is a rough and dark young man, somewhat clumsy, while she is a beautiful young woman with blue eyes and golden curls.

But one day Heathcliff bursts into the family, a boy brought home by his father to be raised as his son, whose origin they don't know, and who seems to bring a curse that drags everything down.

With a dark and raw tone, full of hateful characters, Emily Brontë traps us in this story about the Linton and Earnshaw families. The critical reception was rather lukewarm at the time, due to its innovative style and structure, which is more typical of later decades. However, it is now considered one of the greatest works of English literature.

"1801—I have just returned from a visit to my landlord - the solitary neighbour that I shall be troubled with. This is certainly a beautiful country! In all England, I do not believe that I could have fixed on a situation so completely removed from the stir of society."
