The Sun Also Rises is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway and published in 1926, being the author's first major book.
This book is set between France and Spain in the interwar period, after the First World War, and it describes a set of characters that belong to the so-called Lost Generation.
Jake Barnes is an American journalist, who is wounded in the war and has no sexual capacity. He had a relationship with the nurse Brett Ashle during the war and both meet again after the war in Paris where they establish a relationship with the American community, said group having a great importance at the beginning of the novel.
From there, Jake and Brett travel to the Spanish city of Pamplona with a group of friends to visit San Fermines, a popular bullfighting festival. There, a series of love problems will take place around Brett and they will meet Pedro Romero, a promising bullfighter.
The book The Sun Also Rises was the one that made Ernest Hemingway one of the most acclaimed writers of all time. The book had such an impact that it was made into a film in 1957 by Henry King.
Robert Cohn was once middleweight boxing champion of Princeton. Do not think that I am very much impressed by that as a boxing title, but it meant a lot to Cohn.
